Reviews for Walnut Cottage Cafe
Review highlights
Based on 492 reviewsWalnut Cottage Cafe is frequently praised for its cozy and welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for families and casual gatherings. The cafe’s location near a scenic stream adds to its charm, especially during warmer months. Customers appreciate the rich, well-prepared coffee and the generally tasty menu offerings, with particular recognition for items like spinach and feta rolls and desserts. While the service is noted as friendly and unpretentious, some reviews mention slower food delivery times, although this is often accepted by patrons not in a hurry. Feedback also points to portions being somewhat small relative to price, and occasional textural issues in certain dishes. Overall, the cafe is regarded as a pleasant and tranquil place to enjoy quality food and beverages.
Quaint spot! Came here on Sunday for Mothers Day brunch. Chinese lady and man super friendly and the young staff they had were all lovely and unpretentious. Coffees came out very quickly and were delicious, hot and well presented. Food took a very long time but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter too much. Food was tasty but for the price, I would say the portions were too small (just my opinion). We paid $77 for 2 coffees, eggs bene with salmon and a big breakfast (there was no butter to accompany the toast, no biggie, just saying). However, a really beautiful setting, so pretty and right away from the centre of Orewa. We will definitely return for coffees. Recommend
Great little cozy place. Happy to bring my family and dog along. I had the mushroom and it was good
I love the place, the views are amazing . Coffee is very rich in flavor and tasty , I tried spinach & feta roll it was yum , but one thing I noticed when I had my meal that there is a hard parts of spinach it’s hard to eat, not feel comfortable eating it. The test is perfect but these hard parts ! My partner tried carrots cake it was delicious . Highly recommend this place
An absolutely beautiful place for coffee and food was terrific, we had the cheesecake and spinach pie both of which I can thoroughly recommend. I'm from Adelaide and really enjoyed the visit the outing to these parts.
Great hidden place for a coffee. The atmosphere brings your peace, super warm and cozy, ideal to relax and enjoy your meal/coffee. Kitchen delivers fast and delicious food. It is located next to a stream and outside seems very nice in the summer. Will come back soon.
Quaint little place, great friendly service. Had breakfast, small eggs benny and my wife had the lamb fry and bacon. Big portion, very tasty. Coffee was good too. Will go back. Easy parking
Was recommended to come here for the Lambs Fry, so I made the trek out to this little cafe and it dosent disappoint. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful! The food was homely and very satisfying as well. They have a whole range of food items, hot or cold! Of course there are espresso based drinks, as well as alcoholic if you want a cold brew! There are lovely little tables inside to sit at, or there are tables littered all over the courtyard!
